Chandigarh: In a new twist to the case relating to cash being delivered at the house of a judge, a CBI probe has been recommended by the Chandigarh administrator into the incident.
Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator General (rtd) Rodrigues s request for a CBI probe has been to forwarded to the director of the premier investigating agency, official sources told PTI today.
The decision to go in for a CBI probe into the case was taken by Rodrigues in consultation with Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Tirath Singh Thakur, the sources said, adding the Union Home Ministry has also been informed about the recommendation for a CBI probe.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Parkash Chand, the munshi (clerk) of Sanjiv Bansal, who later resigned as Additional Advocate General of Haryana, for allegedly delivering Rs 15 lakh at the residence of Justice Nirmaljit Kaur on August 13,who had immediately informed the Chandigarh Police. CBI sources said that the case is expected to be handed over to the Special Investigation Unit which probes sensitive cases.
