The liquor was meant to smuggle out to the neighbouring district of wardha.

According to police, Additional SP Kailas Kanse received a tip off about the illicit operation of a brewery on the bank of the Bembla river in Savangi (Raut) village of of Yavatmal district and acting quickly, he deployed his special squad to the village.

The squad raided the brewery and seized 12 barrels of brew. The squad has seized the equipments and raw materials to be used in the preparation of illicit liquor. It is said the illegal trade was continuing for quiet sometime sans any action from the authorities concerned.

A criminal offence is registered against the owner of the brewery who has fled from the spot and the police launched a manhunt for him.

It is pertinent to note that Wardha district has already been declared as a dry district and there is total prohibition in the entire district.
