Yavatmal police seizes 12 barrels of illicit liquo

Yavatmal: A special squad of Yavatmal police seized 12 barrels of illicit country liquor at Savangi village of Babhulgaon tehsil.
The liquor was meant to smuggle out to the neighbouring district of wardha.
According to police, Additional SP Kailas Kanse received a tip off about the illicit operation of a brewery on the bank of the Bembla river in Savangi (Raut) village of of Yavatmal district and acting quickly, he deployed his special squad to the village.
The squad raided the brewery and seized 12 barrels of brew. The squad has seized the equipments and raw materials to be used in the preparation of illicit liquor. It is said the illegal trade was continuing for quiet sometime sans any action from the authorities concerned.
A criminal offence is registered against the owner of the brewery who has fled from the spot and the police launched a manhunt for him.
It is pertinent to note that Wardha district has already been declared as a dry district and there is total prohibition in the entire district. No one is allowed to sell or bring liquor of any kind to the district. However, the rule is being violated. Neighbouring Yavatmal is the main supply source of liquor to Wardha. Source : PTI
