US asks India, Pak to resolve differences peacefully
Thursday, August 28, 2008 10:36 [IST]

Washington: The US says it always encourages India and Pakistan to negotiate their differences peacefully, concerned as it is when tensions rise in the region.

"Obviously, we are concerned when tensions rise in that region," state department deputy spokesman Robert Wood told reporters Wednesday commenting on reports of a resurgence of tensions in Kashmir with India alleging that infiltrators from Pakistan had killed a number of people.

"And, you know, as our general policy, we 've always encouraged the governments of India and Pakistan to negotiate their differences peacefully," he said.
