Thursday, August 28, 2008 14:33 [IST]

New Delhi: Honesty, past track record and commitment to the party will be the main criteria for Delhi BJP to shortlist candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls. As it plans make "unprecedented corruption" of Congress government one of the main election issue.

Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan said "winnability" will not be the sole eligibility for distributing tickets to the party aspirants as BJP was determined to give people of Delhi a "corruption-free government."

"Honesty, past track record and commitment to the party will be the main criteria for selecting the candidates. After fulfilling these three we will consider the winnability factor," he told PTI here.

Vardhan, who is seen as a frontrunner as the party s Chief Ministerial candidate, said the BJP is also likely to give tickets to almost all the sitting MLAs.

"Performance of all the party MLAs have been satisfactory. However, the election committee will take a final decision on the matter," he said.

He said BJP will storm back to power as people are fed up with the corrupt Sheila Dikshit-led government.

"We have seen unprecedented corruption in Delhi Government and it will be major issue in the election," he said adding BJP was determined to dethrone the Sheila Dikshit-led government.

The Delhi unit president has already appointed observers in each constituencies to compile a list of probable candidates who meet the basic requirements.
