Tuesday, September 02, 2008 20:54 [IST]
New Delhi:An unidentified woman was today mowed down by a DTC bus in the controversial BRT corridor in South Delhi, police said.

The woman, in her early 30s, was crossing the road when the incident took place in Ambedkar Nagar at around 10:15 am.

She came under the front wheels of the low-floor bus plying between Khanpur and Mori Gate.

The bus dragged her for some distance before stopping, police said, adding she died on the spot due to serious head injuries.

The body was taken to AIIMS for post mortem.

The victim s face was damaged beyond recognition and she could not be identified as she was not carrying any identification document, police said.

Enraged at the accident, some people beat up driver Bal Kishan before handing him over to police. He was also admitted to AIIMS.

A case has been registered, police said, adding the driver will be arrested once he is discharged from hospital.
