Srinagar:Hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani today alleged that the Centre was "pushing the youth of Kashmir against the wall" by arresting agitators who took part in the recent protests in the valley.
"Government of India is pushing the people of the valley against the wall by arresting those youth who took part in the recent protests. We want to ask the government what it wants to achieve by adopting this attitude," Geelani told reporters here.
He said by arresting the political leaders under Public Safety Act (PSA), the government was giving evidence of "state terrorism".
"We demand that the government release all the political prisoners within the month of Ramazan (Muslim fasting month) and before Eidul Fitr. The future course of action will be announced after Eid," he said.
Geelani endorsed the programme of agitation given by separatist coordination committee for three days beginning tomorrow.
"Although our consent has not been sought, there will be no change in the programme given by the coordination committee," he said.
The coordination committee yesterday had called for peaceful protests and an hour-long sit-in outside mosques in the valley on Friday and a complete shutdown on Saturday. Source : PTI
