Islamabad:Pakistan Thursday proposed to India to host a meeting in Islamabad to operationalise as soon as possible trade across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.

The proposal was made by Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir to Indian High Commissioner Satyabrata Pal at a meeting, state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.

Pakistan's proposal is in pursuit of the agreement-in-principle already reached at the July 21 foreign secretary level talks held in New Delhi, said a foreign office statement.

Bashir also conveyed the readiness of the Pakistani Kashmir chamber of commerce to send a delegation to Srinagar soon.

The demand to open trade links through Kashmir was raised by Muslim demonstrators in Jammu and Kashmir during protests over handing forest land to a temple trust and subsequent blockade of the only motorable road link to the valley.
