Kolkata: The crucial talks to end the Singur impasse, scheduled to begin at 10 am today, have been deferred till 4 pm with the West Bengal government seeking more time, Raj Bhavan sources said.
Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi has called the meeting between representatives of the state government and those from Trinamool Congress-led Krishi Jami Jiban O Jeebika Raksha Committee for resolving the Singur deadlock.
He has requested former Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Chittatosh Mukherjee to provide legal advice at the meeting, to be presided over by him.
The Governor's decision to chair the meeting came following requests from Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Mamata Banerjee to mediate personally to find a solution to the prolonged deadlock that threatened to derail Tata's Nano car project. Source : PTI
