3 workers killed in reactor explosion

Hyderabad:Three workers were killed while three others sustained injuries following an explosion in a reactor at a factory in Maheshwaram here Saturday, police said.

The three workers Venkateshwar Reddy, Krishna and Mahesh in the age group of 35 years were killed on the spot following blast in a reactor, where they were mixing chemicals, Maheshwaram Inspector of Police Narender Reddy said.

They were working near the reactor when the incident took place. Iron caps on the reactor hit them hard after the blast resulting in severe head injuries, the police official said adding three other workers working in the same premises sustained minor injuries.

Senior police officials rushed to the spot soon after the incident. Police booked a case against the management of Uma Organic Pvt Ltd where the blast took place, he said.
