Chennai:Airport Customs officials have seized 2.8 kg of Heroin, worth Rs 2.8 crore in the international market, from a Thailand-bound woman passenger at Anna International airport here.

The woman has been arrested.

An official press release from the Commissioner of Customs here today said on suspicion, customs officials checked the passengers luggage and found the heroin concealed in the inner lining of the bottom of the suitcase.

During interrogation, the passenger said she had agreed to carry the contraband for a remuneration of USD 1,000,the release said, adding the seizure was effected on September 4.

It said three cases of heroin seizure, involving women passengers of foreign origin, totally weighing 9.71 kg and valued at rs 9.7 crore in the international market, had been detected this year.
