PATNA: JD(U) President Sharad Yadav on Monday called for co-operation from all political parties to reach out to 30 lakh flood-affected people and provide all kind of assistance to them without politicising the national calamity.
"It was unfortunate that the main Opposition party in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) was out to take political mileage from the catastrophic floods of north Bihar," Janata Dal (U) leader Sharad Yadav said here.
Yadav has visited several villages of his marooned parliamentary constituency (Madhepura) and said that he would talk to the Central Government for making adequate changes in the laws so that the relatives of those killed in the calamity could be adequately compensated even without having a medical certificate.
Asked about Union Minister of state J. P. N. Yadav coming out with a white paper on the "failure" of Nitish Kumar Government in providing relief to flood victims and "misleading" the Centre about the Kosi embankment till the date it breached on August 18,Yadav said "let him come out with the white paper.. We are not worried about his threats."
"I can say with authority that the Nitish Government has done a great service in reaching out to the flood victims with relief materials with the help of army, NGOs and the locals. Source : DNA
