ICICI Bank, TVS Motor bag Symantec awards
Tuesday, September 09, 2008 16:07 [IST]

Singapore:India's largest private bank ICICI Bank, and leading two-wheeler maker TVS Motor Co, are the two Indian firms selected for the 2008 Symantec visionary awards for the way they secure and manage systems and information.

The other three award winners in the region are A Star Computational Resource Centre of Singapore, Malaysia Airlines System Berhad of Malaysia, and Indonesia's telecom firm Pt Excelcomindo Pratama.

"The visionary awards recognise IT thought leaders for their innovative use of our products and services to drive tangible value results," Symantec Asia South vice-president Eric Hoh said here Tuesday while presenting the awards to the five winning firms.

ICICI Bank chief technology officer Pravir Vohra and TVS chief information officer T.G. Dandapani received the awards from Symantec's IT and services group president David Thompson at the company's annual user conference here.

The $6-billion Symantec is a global leader in providing security, storage and management solutions to help businesses and consumers worldwide secure and manage their information.

The US-based technology firm spends about 15 percent ($900 million) of its annual revenue in research and development of products, including new versions and services spanning the IT infrastructure eco-system.

"The exponential growth of data and the increased mobility of workforce are the new challenges faced by businesses in securing and managing their information. To stay relevant and competitive, enterprises should assess and implement technology that can add value to their business," Thompson told about 1,000 delegates at the technology event.
