Prachanda replaced as guerrilla army chief
Friday, September 12, 2008 13:03 [IST]

Kathmandu: Ahead of his India visit Sep 15, Maoist supremo Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has been replaced as the supreme commander of the guerrilla People's Liberation Army.

The top leaders of the party Friday decided to appoint Nanda Kishor Pun 'Pasang', who led many guerrilla battles against the state during the decade-old armed insurgency, as the new PLA chief.

With Prachanda becoming prime minister, the Maoist party now gets a new chief as well. Mohan Vaidya 'Kiran', who was arrested and jailed in India and belongs to the hardliner group, becomes new chief of the party organisation.
