New Delhi: Motorcycle pillion-rider Anuj Aditya Singh, 25, who was critically injured after being hit by a speeding BMW car slipped into coma Friday while his friend Mrigank Srivastav who was riding the bike was recuperating in hospital.

Anuj Aditya Singh, whose cervical spine and brain stem were badly damaged, was placed on life support systems Friday morning after his health deteriorated further.

Though doctors said the chances of his recovery were slim, his family was hopeful that he would definitely recover from the present condition.

?Anuj tried to open his eyes and tears rolled down his cheek,? said Tejas Chauhan, the victim's uncle, adding ?although the doctors here say he is stable and there is no improvement, we strongly believe that his effort to open eyes was not short of a miracle and he is improving.?

Singh was returning home with his friend Srivastav after a movie show when a BMW, driven by Utsav Bhasin, 18, rammed from behind their Pulsar motorbike near Moolchand flyover early Thursday.

A police control room (PCR) van rushed them to the Trauma Centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

?Anuj is an ambitious and patriotic boy. He himself is in the media industry and decries such accidents. We are consulting an advocate for further course of legal action, but we will not submit to such inhuman acts,? Rajesh Chauhan, the victim's uncle told IANS outside his ward.

?If we let these rich people go without stern action, incidents of hit and run will never end,? he added.

The family also lashed out at the police for shoddy investigation in the case.

?We are not satisfied with the first information report (FIR). We have learnt that the police do not have enough evidence to indicate that the driver in the BMW driver was drunk,? said Tejas Chauhan.

?The FIR mentions that some coupons of pub were found in the car which clearly suggest that the driver had consumed alcohol,? he added.

The family said had there been any sign of empathy or apology from the accused end, they would have weighed the circumstances differently.

?Instead, the accused family were probably busy in trying to help him escape and bribing police officials.?

Sushma Srivastav, mother of Mrigank Srivastav, said they do not want any compensation but the government should ban BMW cars on city roads.

Mrigank Srivastav, who was riding the bike landed on his head, fractured his right leg and was badly bruised all over. His mother said he was recovering and scheduled to undergo ankle surgery late Friday evening.

?Accidents involving big cars are becoming routine. BMWs are spinning out of control and parents should be hold responsible for their children acts,? said Sushma Srivastav.

?We are people from the service class and know where our children go when they leave the house, unlike rich owners of these cars who take lives for granted. These cars should be banned from Indian roads,? she added.
