CST railway police found a six-month-old infant abandoned in the second class ladies compartment of a CST-bound Ambernath local train on Sunday. The baby boy was admitted to St George Hospital for treatment.
Police officials said that on Sunday morning, around 10.35 am, a woman commuter informed the CST station master that she had found a baby abandoned in the train. The railway police then rushed to the ladies compartment and found the infant sleeping on one of the seats. "We then rushed the child to the hospital where he was admitted to the paediatric ward," said inspector Shashank Shinde, CST railway police station.
"We have deployed a female constable to take care of the baby while he is recuperating in the hospital."
Dr Sayyed of St George Hospital said that the baby is around six to eight months old. "However, the baby is under observation since he is suffering from malnutrition, pneumonia as well as ulcers in both his eyes," he added.
Shinde said that they are now hunting for the babys parents. "We have also registered a case under section 317 (exposure and abandonments of child under 12 years, by parent or person having care of it), IPC."
"If anybody has any information about the babys parents or relative, please contact the CST railway police station," he added. Source : DNA
