NCP firm on anti-Congress tie up in Meghalaya

Shillong: The NCP in Meghalaya has reiterated it commitment of lending support to the regional United Democrati Party candidate for the Shillong seat in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Amid talks between the Congress and the NCP at the Centre on forging a tie-up for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, state NCP president WR Kharluki said, "we will support the UDP candidate and we expect all the partners in the five-party ruling Meghal aya Progressive Alliance government to ensure the victory of the candidate."

The UDP and NCP have agreed to put up consesus candidates for the two seats in Meghalaya - Shillong and Tura.

Kharluki said the party would put up its candidate in Tura and urged all ruling partners to support its candidate.

Currently the Shillong seat is held by Congress leader PR Kyndiah, while the Tura seat by PA Sangma s daughter Agatha.
