New Delhi: With Assembly elections in six states scheduled for November and December followed by the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress has decided on an integrated media strategy to woo the electorate.
Two advertisement agencies have given a power point presentation before the Publicity Committee of the party. One of the agencies would be selected next week, said a senior party leader.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi too was present in the multimedia presentation on the type of strategy which the party should adopt for the elections. Party sources said that one of the two shortlisted agencies JWT and Crayons would bag the contract next week though they did not reveal the budget which has been planned for the exercise.
As marketing is considered to be the key to success in the era of liberalisation, the grand old party wants to get its message across to a billion strong audience through the advertisement agency as was done effectively in the elections of 1984 in which the Congress got an unprecedented mandate.
A source said that the contemporary political scenario in India would be reflected in the campaign. This includes the achievements of the UPA government in the last five years and the promises it intends to make for another mandate.
The agency would help coin slogans, prepare publicity material, take the message to the nook and corner of the country through print and electronic media route along with other forms of outdoor campaigning, said the source.
