Blast in Colombo injures three

Colombo:  Three people were injured Monday when a blast shook the busy Fort area in the Sri Lankan capital Monday afternoon.

The blast took place around 12.30 p.m. at Malwatte Road, a few hundred metres from the Colombo Fort railway station. The impact of the explosion also damaged three vans and two cars, police said.

"Onlly three people with very minor injuries were admitted from the blast site and treated at the hospital," Colombo National Hospital Director Hector Weerasinghe told IANS.
