Mumbai: In an attempt to promote development, production and dissemination of various types of nuclear and atomic data, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conducted a workshop for research students across the country.
Different types of nuclear and atomic data form the corner stone for the efficient and safe application of various nuclear techniques.
"The methods presented during the workshop Nuclear Reaction Modelling Codes and Data Inputs as Tools in Nuclear Data Evaluations which concluded at Manipal on Saturday may be used for a wide variety of applications," workshop convenor and senior scientist Dr Mohini Gupta told PTI today.
The workshop, organised jointly by the Manipal Advanced Research Group (MARG) with IAEA, was an important step towards making state-of-the-art methods more widely available to the research community in India, she said.
MARG Chairman, Pro-Chancellor Dr H S Ballal, presided over the inaugural event which was marked by the first beta release of the new EMPIRE 3 system for nuclear reaction modelling, validation and evaluation.
"As far as India is concerned, we need to empower our countrymen with relevant education, and this needs the right mix of knowledge, culture, heritage and spiritual values which have been the centre of the Indian system for thousands of years," Ballal said. Source : PTI
