Kurukshetra: The Sikhs of Haryana this evening decided to postpone their programme of taking over the 6th Patshahi Gurdwara here as part of their demand to set up the Haryana Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (HSGPC) to manage the affairs of Gurdwaras in the state independently of the Amritsar based SGPC.
The postponement of the take over on October eight after the expiry of the 30 days deadline to the Haryana Government and the Centre to set up the separate SGPC for Haryana was announced after a meeting between Haryana SGPC (ad hoc) representatives and representatives of the SGPC here this evening.
HSGPC Chief Jagdish Singh Jhinda and other representatives of the Sikhs in the state and Daljit Singh Cheema, Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister and senior SAD leader Prem Singh Chandumajra met here for holding discussions on the issue. Cheema told PTI that they delivered a letter from Parkash Singh Badal and SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar appealing to Haryana Sikhs to postpone the protest take over and come to the negotiating table.
He said that they have assured the Haryana SGPC that the issue of forming a separate SGPC in Haryana would be resolved during the negotiations to be held between November 10 and 20 after the conclusion of the 300th anniversary of Guru Granth Sahab celebrations to be held at Takht Hazoor Sahab in Nanded in Maharashtra later this month.
