New Delhi: The Delhi government has decided to set up seventeen new hospitals in the national capital as part of its plans to provide quality health care services to the people.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said her government was concentrating on expansion of health care facilities across the city with an aim to provide quality services at the doorsteps of the people.
The government has planned a big expansion programme to open 17 more hospitals and hundreds of dispensaries to ensure reliable and quality health services to the residents, she said.
Dikshit was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of a 125 bedded hospital at Sarita Vihar and a 50 bedded Community Hospital cum Mother and Child Care Centre at Molarband under Badarpur Assembly Segment.
She said the new hospital would be able to cater to the needs of number of villages and unauthorised colonies in the area.
Once ready the new hospital would be able to provide services in the disciplines of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology besides basic Laboratory and Radiology services.
A 50 bedded Mother and Child Hospital at Village Molarband will also be coming up, she said. Meanwhile Delhi Finance, Planning and Power Minister A K Walia also laid foundation stone for a modern dispensary at Bank Enclave today under his Assembly Segment in East Delhi.
The three storeyed dispensary would have 24 rooms and it would cater to the health needs of around 50,000 people of nearby localities. Walia said the city government would commission 38 dispensaries and health centres during 11th Five Year Plan.
