Tuesday, October 07, 2008 19:58 [IST]
New Delhi: The Puducherry government today sought central assistance to tackle problems related to flood and soil erosion in the Union Territory.

Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam today met Union Water Resources minister Saifuddin Soz to seek assistance by the Centre under the Flood Control and Management Scheme.

Soz asked the Puducherry CM to send a detailed project report (DPR) to enable the ministry to take "appropriate measures".

The CM was suggested to take the assistance of expert agencies, including Water and Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS) and Central Water Commission (CWC) in preparing the DPRs, official sources said here.
