Jalandhar: Border Security Force (BSF) today claimed to have seized nine Kilogram of Heroin by carrying out special search operation in the area of Border Out Post GG-I., Fazilka between Border Security Fence and international boundary at Indo-Pak border.
Troops of BSF carried a special search operation near the international boundary where they observed a red cloth tied on a tree and on suspicion, they thoroughly searched the area around the tree and found a heap of dry grass kept on freshly dug soil under the tree, press release of BSF stated adding that on removing the dry grass they found a cloth containing nine packets on heroin, an official released stated here today
Each Packet was weighing 1 kg and the value of the consignment was approximately Rs 45 crore in the international market, release added.
Due to record production of opium and heroin in Afghanistan, the smuggler from across the border were constantly trying to push heroin into the India for its onward destination to Europe and America, release said adding that enhanced alertness of BSF has been defeating the determined attempts of smuggler to push consignment of heroin and other contrabands from Pakistan on Punjab Border.
In recent months, BSF has seized 88 kgs of Heroin on Punjab Border along with apprehensions of couriers of Pakistan based smugglers, release added.
The smugglers frustrated by their attempts to send consignment across through their time tested methods to push contraband through pipe, have now changed their modus operandi to clear the consignment by using conceal and clear method, release said adding that in this methodology, smugglers from the across the border conceal consignment near Zero Line and smuggler of own side enter through fence gates in disguise of farmer and clear the consignment.
