Isolated rains in Mumbai
Wednesday, October 08, 2008 17:07 [IST]

Mumbai: Mumbaikars were caught unaware this morning when some parts of city and suburbs experienced isolated rains accompanied with thunder and lightning.

Isolated rains were also experienced in other parts of Maharashtra like Solapur and the central region. "It was due to trough (low pressure) off the Karnataka and Konkan," C V V Bhadram, Deputy Director General, Meteorology Department, told PTI.

The Southwest Monsoon currents still exist in the state and they have withdrawn only up to northern parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Haryana. Parts of the metropolis had been experiencing thunder, lightning and gusty wind with isolated rains during the last couple of days.
