Senior Hindi journalist Umesh Lakhanpal dead

New Delhi: Senior Hindi journalist Umesh Lakhanpal, 50, died following a heart attack here Wednesday.

Lakhanpal, a resident of Shalimar Bagh, had more than 25 years experience in journalism and was working with Punjab Kesari, a leading Hindi national daily.

He was very popular among the journalistic fraternity and was fondly called 'dada'.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit described Lakhanpal as an institution in Hindi journalism and a man of integrity.

"Lakhanpal was a dedicated scribe who devoted his energy in educating young journalists. His contribution in enriching Hindi journalism will always be remembered," Dikshit said.
