Thackeray lambasts Raj, Rane for remarks on age
Thursday, October 09, 2008 11:01 [IST]
Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray today lashed out at nephew and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray for alleging that he was no longer at the helm of affairs in the Sena due to age and health-related issues.

Without naming his estranged nephew, Thackeray in an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamana , replied to Raj's recent allegation that he was no longer controlling the party.

"People say that I have grown old and tired and someone else is running the Sena. Even turncoats like (Revenue Minister) Narayan Rane second the opinion. See how happy these frogs are because I have grown old and tired," the 81-year-old Thackeray said.

"Even Chhagan Bhujbal, who has fallen in love with me afresh, has said he was withdrawing the defamation case against me due to my old age," he said.

"I may have gotten old due to age but you people have grown old due to your thoughts. You are now bedridden because the Chief Ministerial chair has eluded you," he said.
