Bhopal: With the next assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh round the corner, senior leaders of the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress are almost challenging each other.

The first salvo in this regard was filed by the Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) minister and State Government spokesman Kailash Vijayawargiya.

"If the State Congress Chief Suresh Pachouri contested the elections from his constituency in Indore he would not campaign and still hope to emerge victorious," Vijayawargiya told reporters last evening.

"I will go to the constituency only for filing my nomination and then go on polling day to cast my vote," Vijaywargiya said.

Asked why he would not go to his constituency if Pachouri contested against him, Vijayawargiya said in a lighter vein that he had great respect for the Congress leader and was almost "scared of him".

The Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee, Ajay Singh said that he will contest the assembly elections from his old constituency of Churhat in his native Siddhi district and added that there was no question of his contesting from anywhere else.

"I am going to contest from Churhat and if the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan feels that he is very popular among the masses, he is welcome to contest against me from Churhat," he said.
