Two militants killed in encounter in Manipur

Imphal: Two militants were killed in an encounter with police commandos in Imphal East district of Manipur, official sources said today.

Sources said commandos, attached to Imphal East district police station, were fired upon by suspected militants of Kangleipak Communist Party-military council (kcp-mc) late last night at Moirangkampu area.

The commandos returned the fire and in the ensuing exchange of fire, two militants of KCP-MC were killed, sources said adding that two pistols and some rounds of ammuntion were recovered from them.

Sources said commandos also recovered some letters addressed to business and offcial persons demanding between Rs 10 Lakhs to Rs one crore.
