Dalai admitted to hospital; to be operated

New Delhi: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama was on Thursday admitted to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here following severe abdominal pain.

The 73-year-old Nobel laureate will be operated upon tomorrow, sources said.

The Buddhist monk had undergone treatment earlier at Mumbais Lilawati hospital for abdominal discomfort where he was treated by Dr Narendra Trivedi, who is also the Vice-President of the private hospital.

He was discharged on September one and asked to report to Ganga Ram for a routine check-up.
