Friday, October 10, 2008 09:59 [IST]

Mumbai: A fire broke out in a plastic stationary manufacturing unit at Abhyudaya Nagar, Kalachowkie, in central Mumbai around 2.30 pm on Thursday.

"All official records and some stationary goods have been damaged." Kalachowkie police said.

According to fire brigade officials, there were no casualties, but local residents claim that four people sustained minor injuries. There are seven units of small scale industries at Abhyudaya Nagar. On Thursday, all units were closed for Dussera. The fire was controlled within an hour.

This is the second time, within a year, that a factory in the compound has caught fire. Dilip Shinde, local corporator, said, "I have complained to the BMC about it before also, but they dont have time to look into the matter."
