Kannur: Expressing concern over the "rising" instances of stockpiling of explosive substances by fundamental and extremist outfits, the CPI (M) district unit today asked the LDF government to institute effective inquiry into the matter.
The recent seizure of weapons and explosives in parts of Kannur district allegedly by the Kerala-based Muslim outfit National Development Front (NDF) and RSS was a grave challenge to the prevailing peaceful atmosphere even as police were found wanting in nabbing the people behind such nefarious activities, CPI (M) district Secretary P Sasi said.
Accusing the NDF and RSS of freely misusing places of worship for stockpiling and providing weapon training to their cadres, Sasi alleged police had failed to nab the culprits and investigate the sources of illegal money being received by such outfits to carry out their nefarious activities.
He alleged some political parties including the Congress were maintaining soft stand on the issue while Muslim League, a constituent of the opposition United Democratic Front, was trying to cover up the NDF designs.
