One killed, three injured in bear attacks in J-K

Srinagar: A woman was killed and three others injured in two separate attacks by wild bears in Kupwara and Shopian districts of Jammu and Kashmir today.

A bear strayed into village Reshipora of Kupwara district and mauled a woman identified as Jana Begum outside her house, police said.

On hearing the cries of the woman, the villagers came out and chased the bear, they said adding the woman was rushed to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

In another incident, a bear attacked a group of people at village Chotipora in Shopian district injuring three of them, police said.

All the injured were hospitalised.
