New Delhi: Comparing Bajrang Dal with terrorist outfits, Congress today said the organisation deserves to be banned as it has "earned" such an image. "The Bajrang Dal deserves to be banned... They have earned this image for themselves. The terrorists hide and do it, they (Bajrang Dal) do it openly," Congress media department chief M Veerappa Moily told reporters here.
Moily said that the activities of the saffron outfit are more pronounced in the BJP-ruled states and alleged that these state governments were collaborating with the Bajrang Dal rather than checking their activities.
"The BJP-ruled states think that the Bajrang Dal is an oxygen for their survival... This is very unfortunate," Moily said, attacking the sangh parivar outfit for its role in anti-Christian violence in some parts of the country.
The senior Congress leader alleged that in the case of SIMI, the state governments, including the BJP-ruled states, sent their recommendation promptly to ban it.
"In the case of Bajrang Dal, we find that the BJP-ruled states have not recommended the ban. This means they are collaborating with the organisation," he said.
Asked whether the ban should be extended to the VHP also, Moily said, "yes, why not".
Replying to a question on the political implications of ban and whether the politics would be polarised along communal lines, he said, "political consequences are not important, the country is more important".
Moily said, "the party looks at the ban not as a political agenda but a national agenda." Source : PTI
