Friday, October 10, 2008 21:46 [IST]

New Delhi: Setting the agenda ahead of a series of elections lined up in the next few months, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said that with its 123-year old history and large organisational base, the party is fully geared up to win the elections.

In the latest issue of party mouthpiece Congress Sandesh , Gandhi said, "the Congress with its 123-year old history and large organisation base is fully geared up to win elections".

Claiming the UPA government has put the interests of the poor at the forefront of its agenda for governance, she said this must be systematically implemented and the voters made aware of all policies that benefit them.

"We must remember that the party comes above all and its ideology and goals must guide our workers to work unitedly for victory," she said in her message.

The direction of the party President comes before Assembly elections to six states - Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram and also the Lok Sabha elections next year.
