Adilabad (AP): Three persons were killed and over 20 others, including eight policemen, injured when clashes broke out during the immersion of Goddess Durga idols at Bhainsa town in the district.
The clashes took place when a man threw stones on a procession after some gulal fell on a place of worship in Punjesha here, police said. He, along with other members of his community, assembled and soon the two groups started pelting stones at each other, they said.
The police used mild lathi charge and later fired in the air to disperse the mob who went on a rampage setting vehicles and shops on fire.
District administration soon imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 in the locality to bring the situation under control. "We are monitoring the situation. More forces are being deployed from Nizamabad," District Collector Ahmed Nadeem told PTI.
Three persons died in the clashes as members of both the communities used sharp objects like iron rods, police said citing preliminary information.
Eight policemen were also injured in the clashes and Bhainsa town sub-inspector, Uday Kiran suffered a leg fracture, police said.

the same incident happened in bhainsa around 10 to 15 years back during lord ganesh immersion. but still if they want everything to happen on friday that toooo during the afternoon when there is a prayer going on in the mosque. also if government or police wants, they can slow it down or atleast make it fast. but if they want something to happen, it will be done at any cost. many shops and cars are fired. is it not people's loss??? because of two people, the whole of area and everyone over there has to suffer. what did the mla of bhainsa do when all this things were happening???? is he not responsible??? is it not a politics???
