Bangalore: A notorious eight-member gang was arrested and Rs 16 lakh worth of valuables including gold ornaments and vehicles besides deadly weapons used in the dacoities seized from them, police said.

The gang, operating on the city outskirts for the past three years, was nabbed on October 9 and Rs 16 lakh worth of valuables including gold ornaments, two four-wheelers, three two-wheelers, 11 mobiles seized from them, police said today.

Weapons like logs, daggers, knives were also seized from the gang, they said.

Those arrested are Ramesh alias Kulli Ramesh (20), Prajwal alias Shaktivel (18), Raghuvaran alias Appi (19), Vishwanatha alias Vishwa (19), Manjunatha alias Mental Manja (19), Manikanta alias Lorry (21), Ashoka (18) and Gopalakrishna (20).

The accused, remanded to police custody till October 15, were being interrogated, police added.
