Meghna Subhedar found at her relative's residence
Saturday, October 11, 2008 16:37 [IST]

Mumbai: Almost three months after being declared dead, the 28-year-old software professional Meghna Subhedar was found at her relative's residence in Pune, Government Railway Police officials said here today.

"Meghna called her parents yesterday and informed them that she was in Pune at one of her relatives house," Assistant Commissioner of Police (GRP) Bapu Thombre told PTI.

Meghna's parents then informed the police here who immediately sent a team there, he said. "Presently we have no idea where she had been since April when she was known to have gone to an ATM in Goa to withdraw money," Thombre said.

Her parents are expected to reach Pune today and will take her custody from her relatives, he said. Meghna Subhedar, an employee with the software firm Genesis, had reportedly called her parents in Korba, Chhatisgarh on April 10 and informed them that she would be boarding the Gitanjali Express for her hometown the same day.

However, she did not board the train and her parents filed a missing persons complaint with the Government Railway Police station at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus on April 11.

Tracking her movements police found that she had visited an ATM in suburban Andheri on April 13 and another in Margao in south Goa on April 14. A naked decomposed body had been found on Goa's Candolim beach on June 25 and a murder case had also been registered there by her father. However, subsequent DNA tests revealed that the body was that of another individual.
