Saturday, October 11, 2008 18:38 [IST]
Kota: A trader was robbed of jewellery worth Rs 80 lakh and cash of Rs one lakh at his residence here, police said.

The incident took place last night when three robbers entered Om Jain s house at Indira Vihar and looted the jeweller at gun point, they said.

The police said that on the fateful night, Jain along with his wife Madhuri closed his shop and reached his home with a bag containing gold ornaments worth around Rs 80 lakh and a sum of Rs 1 lakh. As soon as the couple entered their home, two persons pounced on them and snatched the bag from Jain s hand.

The robbers also fired two rounds in the air when Jain resisted and escaped on motorcycle with their third associate.

A police team led by Additional SP Randheer Singh reached the site of the incident and was investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, the Kota Vyapar Mahasangh has given a call for Kota Bandh on Monday in protest against the incidents of looting and robbery in the city.
