Jaipur: Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today said sovereignty of the country is threatened by the increasing terror activities and expressed serious concern at the non-inclusion of terrorism in the agenda of the National Integrity Council meeting scheduled for Monday.
In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Raje said terrorism is the biggest issue faced by the country today and united efforts should be made at all levels to combat the menace.
Expressing concern for not including terrorism in the NIC meet, Raje cautioned that the UPA government would be solely responsible for the consequences if it failed to tackle the menace in time.
"It is unfortunate that despite debating the issue very seriously in the larger interest of the country, it was not even included in the meeting's agenda," Raje said in the letter.
She said during the last three years 500 innocent people had lost their lives in various parts of the country due to terror attacks.
The chief minister also said party leaders should work for the interest of the country before thinking of politicising terrorism to gain any political mileage.
Rajasthan has witnessed two terror attacks -- first in Ajmer Dargah on October 11, 2007 and the second on May 13, 2008 in the crowded Jaipur market.
