Seven injured in train-truck collision

Kanpur: Seven persons were injured today from the debris of a truck after it crashed into a train at an unmanned crossing in Mandhana area near Bhawanipur here, police said.

The collision was so strong that it ripped apart the truck and its debris injured the seven, who were sitting outside a house near the accident site, police said.

"The accident took place in the evening when an express train from Farukkhabad to Kanpur rammed into a truck at an unmanned railway line here," Lal Bahadur Superintendent of Police, Kanpur (Rural), said.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital, he said, adding truck driver is not among the injured and is missing.

"It is not yet clear whether the driver left the truck after seeing the train or got injured or died in the accident," he said.

Railway officials also rushed to the spot after the incident and are investigations are on.
