Hyderabad: A new scene unfolds almost everyday in the Andhra Pradesh's political drama.
There has been a lot of intrigue so far in the plot but the main picture has not yet emerged.
In the state, set to go to polls in about four months from now, the ruling Congress is clearly the opponent of the piece but the lead characters who would decimate it in the ultimate battle are still undecided about the course of their action.
When everybody thought the principal opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has almost firmed up an alliance with "like-minded" parties like the CPM, the CPI and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti to take on the Congress, a new force, Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), has entered the fray giving a new twist to the plot.
Now suddenly, the intrigue has only confounded leaving the audience flummoxed, at least for the time being. As per the original script, the TDP wanted to take on the Congress in the company of the CPM, the CPI and the TRS.
While the CPM and the TRS were keen on their tie-up with the TDP, the CPI wavered between the TDP and the Praja Rajyam Party. But the CPI could not overrule its high command's decision in favour of the TDP as the Left parties were working on building a third alternative at the national level against the Congress and the BJP.
The Praja Rajyam initially showed interest in going with the BJP and accordingly the party leadership established contacts with BJP's national leadership.
