300 flights from 17 airports to carry Haj pilgrims

Kozhikode: The Centre has made arrangements to operate 300 flights from 17 airports across the country for Haj pilgrimage this year, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said today.

"In all 1,23,211 pilgrims will undertake the holy pilgrimage with the maiden flight taking off from here on October 31," he said in a Haj camp here.

A team of 135 Doctors, assisted by 146 para-medical staff and 51 officers, supported by 171 assistant officers, will be put on Haj duty, he said.

On their return, each pilgrim would be entitled to bring 10 litres of holy water, Ahamed said.
