The campaign aims to teach students, especially those belonging to economically backward section of the society, the basic theories of science, CDRI director Rakesh Tuli told PTI.
"This is just a beginning. After a couple of months, teachers from various schools will be invited to participate in the programme.
"We are also trying to take help of other institutes like Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research in Bangalore and Indian National Science Academy to set up knowledge enhancement centres in peripheral areas," he said.
The knowledge centres will provide computer and other basic facilities. Students will get free subscription of study materials and periodicals, published by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), which will help them in understanding the complex scientific theories through simple method, Tuli added.
Under the Science Awareness Campaign , the students from weaker sections will get lessons on the basic theories of science, he said, adding practical demonstrations will be given to the students after 10 theory classes at the institutes research laboratories. Source : PTI
