New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Minister P.R. Dasmunsi has been rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) following a heart attack and is said to be in a serious condition.

Dasmunsi, 63, was brought to the hospital casualty Sunday midnight after he complained of breathlessness due to lung congestion caused by heart failure, said AIIMS medical superintendent D.K. Sharma.

"He is in a serious condition. But his heart rate and blood pressure has been maintained," Sharma told IANS.

Dasmunsi was admitted to the coronory care unit on the Cardiac Thoracic Centre in AIIMS.

Dasmunsi has a 10 year history of diabetes, Sharma said.

The senior Congress leader had suffered a heart attack in July 6. "He had undergone an angioplasty and stenting of two coronary arteries in a hospital in Kolkata."

He is being closely monitored by a team of doctors, led by the head of department of cardiology V.K. Behl, he added.
