Father smothers little daughter to death
Monday, October 13, 2008 13:21 [IST]
Jamshedpur: In a bizarre incident, a father allegedly killed his three-and-half year old daughter with a stone following a tiff with family and dumped the body in drain in East Singhbhum district last night.

Shivshankar Pramanik, a resident of Daiguttu under Mango Police Station here, took away his little daughter after a quarrel with other family members in a drunken state last evening, police said.

After leaving home he allegedly throttled his daughter as she started crying for mother and banged her head against a stone killing the child on spot, police said.

Pramanik, who has four other children, then allegedly dumped the body in drain. He then reportedly narrated his crime before family members after returning home.

He was apprehended later.

The body, later discovered from the drain, carried an external injury mark on the head, police said adding the exact cause of death could be known only after copy of the post-mortem report was received.
