Chennai: Heavy rains lashed several parts of Tamil Nadu for the second consecutive day today with South West Monsoon remaining active over the state and neighbouring Kerala.
A trough of low pressure has formed over south Tamil Nadu coast, which was likely to persist and bring heavy rains over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next 48 hours, weather officials here said.
Fishermen have been warned not to venture into deep sea.
Maniyatchi in Tuticorin District and Aruppukottai in Virudhunagar District recorded heavy rainfall of nine cm and seven cm respectively during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am today.
Normal life in the metropolis was hit this morning following heavy rains and gutsy winds. Several low lying areas especially in North Chennai were under knee-deep water. Source : PTI
