Heroin worth rupees five crore recovered in JK

Jammu: Police arrested a narcotics smuggler and recovered 1.4 kilogram heroin worth over Rs five crore in the international market from Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district last evening, police said.

According to SSP Doda Parbhat Singh, a police party led by SHO Bhaderwah had laid a trap at Dandi bypass in the town following reports of narcotics smuggling.

In the evening, police nabbed narcotics smuggler Mohd Shafi, a resident of chanyas and seized two packets of heroin each weighing 700 grams from his possession.

He was trying to smuggle narcotics from Bhaderwah to Jammu, the police sources said.

The seizure was valued at more than Rs five crore in the international market, cops said.

A case against the smuggler has been registered under NDPS Act at Bhaderwah police station.
