New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on the contractor responsible for maintaining the upkeep of the Dilshad Garden Metro station for failing to keep it clean.
DMRC Managing Director E Sreedharan paid a surprise visit to the station yesterday and saw litter and cleaning material lying scattered at the station.
Extremely unhappy over poor maintenance of cleanliness, he immediately directed DMRC officials to impose a fine of Rs one lakh on the contractor responsible for the upkeep of the station.
The DMRC chief was particularly angry when he saw litter and cleaning material lying scattered at the station, which is one of the most popular metro stations in the city.
Dilshad Garden station earns the second highest revenue with the earning of Rs 3.5 lakh per day and registers about 25,000 footfalls daily.
Sreedharan was, however, satisfied with cleanliness and upkeep of the Welcome and Kashmere Gate stations. He directed the senior DMRC officials to regularly inspect the metro stations to ensure proper cleanliness. Source : PTI
