Live bombs recovered, defused in Tripura
Tuesday, October 14, 2008 16:17 [IST]

Agartala: Security forces recovered two live bombs and had them defused by experts in Tripura, police said here Tuesday.

Based on specific inputs, two live bombs were recovered from a shop at Bodhjung Nagar, 25 km north of here in West Tripura district late Monday.

Experts later defused both the bombs, said Manik Das, deputy superintendent of police.

The live bombs were recovered 12 days after serial blasts in Agartala left about 100 people injured.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Jakie Ahmed arrived here Monday to inquire about the Agartala bombings. He held meetings with top police officials and visited the explosion sites.

The police have so far arrested 12 people, including three militants, three Bangladeshi nationals and a Muslim cleric, on suspicion of being involved in the serial explosions.
