Man arrested for sending threatening letter

Coimbatore:  A 37-year-old man, reportedly mentally disturbed, has been arrested on charges of sending a threatening letter to the railway station here six months ago, saying that a bomb would explode there.

Based on some definite clues and the letter, one Mahesh of Vadavalli in the city was traced last night,police said today.

Mahesh had confessed to being mentally disturbed after his wife left him some years ago and that he was against women, particularly those getting married, they said.

He used to send anonymous letters to brides and bridegrooms if he came across to any marriage invitation, asking them not to get married, police said.

Mahesh who reportedly worked in a leading English daily in Chennai, also used to speak to the parents of the bridegrooms, telling them about the bad habits of the brides, in a bid to stop the marriages, the sources said.
